Torien Cafferata is a Saskatoon-based producer, actor, and playwright and holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Saskatchewan. Alongside co-producer and designer Amberlin Hsu, together forming It’s Not a Box Theatre, Torien has been immersing himself in devised, interactive theatre for the past three years. He is fascinated by the intersection between theatre, social media, and augmented reality. Most recently he has been working on Overhear, an international documentary theatre project, collaborating with artists and app developers from across Canada to create a digital geocache storytelling platform. Torien is also proud to be the director and head dramaturge of the Saskatoon Writers Weekly Workshops, a free and local workshop collective for emerging writers and is the Dramaturgical Chair of the Saskatchewan Playwrights Centre. Amberlin Hsu is a designer, movement artist, and co-producer for It's Not a Box Theatre, which she runs alongside Torien Cafferata in both Saskatoon and Tokyo. She is a graduate of the NTUA in Taiwan and holds a BFA in Drama (Design) from the University of Saskatchewan. Previous It's Not a Box Theatre producer/design credits include: Overhear (2016-2019), cell (2017), Hypneurosis (2016), and Project O (2015). Recent stage-management credits: Displaced (Ground Cover Theatre).
